Background

The APRTC's s Web-based agLe@rn programme uses modern information, communication and educational technologies to provide individuals working with small holder farmers with the updated knowledge and skills they need to be effective agents of change for sustainable agriculture. The value and feasibility of eLearning is proving itself and has a demonstrated potential to help bridge the knowledge and technology gaps between centers of learning and the knowledge required by millions of the developing world’s rural population.

In the context of WSSD, CropLife, APRTC and WorldView International Foundation are now proposing to explore ways of accelerating the global outreach of agLe@rn to developing countries in Africa and Latin America, enabling more agricultural professionals to capitalize upon the educational opportunities offered, ultimately leading to improved knowledge and information flows to resource poor farmers.
